Bombay duck, Pomphret and Alphonso

Ummm, ummm! That was most of what my meals consisted of the last week. I had to rush to Bombay for a week on a very short notice. You either hate Bombay or you love it – there are no in-betweens. I LOVE it. I spent many of my childhood summers in Bombay. I also spent two solid education years in Bombay. If funny how most metros in India are changing so rapidly – but Bombay seems to be stuck in time. It was fast paced, it still is fast paced and it will always remain that way. If you thought the population, poverty, pollution and traffic couldn’t get worse – think again! Despite all this there is something that is so powerful and enigmatic about Bombay. You will rarely see anyone loitering around. Everyone has a mission. And I had a mission too. I had to walk a few Clinics through two products I had developed – “Food Handlers’ Health Screening Program” and “School Health Program”. And then we tried to launch this at many schools and restaurants. We received many positive responses!

I spent my evenings with my cousins, aunts and the five-year-old who insisted that if she ate cheese (this is while she was eating it) she wouldn’t fit into her jeans!!! She also believes that if she does not tie her hair up in pigtails, it would not grow long (this one has to be her mom’s way of getting her to tie her hair).

Barring the flight delays and a weird guy hitting on me at the airport, it was a wonderful trip. I had the first mango of the season and carried back two-dozen with me. I ate fried bombay duck, pomphret, crab curry and shrimp biryani to my heart’s content. Now it’s back to the grind. So brace yourself…here I come :-S

Sines - I will write more about the products. Just hope I don't lose out on readers in the process :-)

Shub - I have been great! Many things going on at the same time. When do you plan to visit India? Try and make it during the mango season - they are absolutely delicious :-) Don't you get Alphoso in Singapore though?

Lak - As long as I keep my company's name out, it should be fine. Will write more soon. I have ONLY been gorging the past 10 days - I NEED TO STOP!

Umm mangoes and Pomfret, esp the stuffed one and the fired one that my mom and sis are kind enough to make for me when I visit.
Mangoes should be available for us Americans next year I hope.
Bombay is indeed an enigmatic, dynamic city but I have kind of outgrown it. I tend to not like it anymore but may be next time I visit I will try to soak it all in and see how it feels.
As for being hit upon, I hear ya. My wife tells me about this when she visits on her own, she occasionally gets hit upon.
Welcome back..
